Function profile: Role Purpose:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will have the key responsibility stimulating the licenses revenue by developing (project based) services propositions through working closely with the Sales and Marketing teams. Propositions will be based on the key business drivers of our customers and Application Partners (AP’s) and Consulting Partners (CP’s).

The BDM is also a key member in the Software Professional Services, Sales and Marketing team. The BDM will develop propositions (e.g. Proof of Concepts, Technology and Business Assessments, Skill Gap Analysis) to stimulate the presence of the company in the Netherlands and in other European countries.

The BDM has extended knowledge and a track record in at least one of the following product areas: Integration; Business Intelligence.

The BDM will act like a ‘spider in the web’ that will have contact with all parties involved in the proposition/order (informing, coordinating, managing) working towards the contract. The BDM will deliver in between and final overviews of the project results. These overviews will be delivered according the in advanced agreed customer criteria (according to the time frame, the budget and the wished quality).

The BDM will be the advisor of the Professional Services Manager for propositions and projects.

Job Description:

The Business Development Manager will: Develop licenses business through Professional Services (project) business together with the Sales teams in line with the corporate business focus (= licenses sales). Identify and develop project opportunities within the installed customer base as well as developing business with new customers. Develop and define solutions (and solution alternatives) for prospects and customers, including requirement specifications and proposals. Assist the sales teams during deal negotiations. Project manage mainly early phase services projects (Pre sales and project initiation). Translate “customer pain” into a solution roadmap. Deliver Company presentations on business trends like business and process integration for customers/prospect at seminars and trade shows. Be responsible for internal Professional Services reporting.
Profile candidate: Personal Characteristics:

The BDM must be able to work well with the Sales teams. The BDM will be a strong communicator with an assertive style. The person needs to be able to create an atmosphere for customers of confidence and trust. He/she must have a strong sales drive and a pro-active, highly resourceful approach. A balance of empathy and self-confidence is needed to ensure that positive team dynamics are reinforced.

The successful candidate will be: Sales driven; Structured, well organized and able to translate customer needs into solutions ; A strong communicator with an assertive style; A strong team player combined with a pro-active approach; Flexible and prepared to travel; Fluent in English languages (both spoken and written), understanding of German and French is a pre;

Typical Profile/Qualifications:

Required: Education on HBO/University level; A minimum of 10 years experience in the IT sector; A minimum of 5 – 7 years Project Management experience; A proven successful track record in project sales (within both new and existing customers for projects sized between Euro 150 K to 1,000K); Experienced in developing requirements definitions, designs and concept definitions; Able to translate complex business challenges into IT solutions; A good understanding of application development methodologies, E-business technologies and RDBMS; Experienced in managing and motivating a Professional Services team; A good command of English languages (both spoken and written).

Preferred: Knowledge of BI or EAI products and service offerings; Experienced in a specific industry e.g. government, manufacturing or logistics and transport; Ideally will have worked for a Systems Integrator or major HW or SW vendor in a services sales role with also a proven track record of project management; A understanding of German and French is a pre.
